Happy Holidays AND a critical subscriber poll
Subscribers: What content format would you prefer?
We’re taking some downtime for the holiday season to see family and work on new content for 2024.
See you all in the new year, but before then, we have a big question!
One great thing about Substack: is it is always adding new tools and formats for creators. But we don’t know which formats would be the greatest value-add to Technoskeptic subscribers.
Substack has added GREAT video functionality recently. Creators can record and send out videos directly, and we don’t have to worry about the video being pulled or downranked by YouTube. Those videos can also be automatically converted to podcasts.
Would Technoskeptic Magazine subscribers like to get video/podcast summaries of already-published print content, or would that feel like spam? Because video production beyond the basic “look into the camera and speak” is pretty resource-intensive, we wouldn’t be able to add many flourishes right now. But if getting this kind of video would be a plus, please let us know. PLEASE vote or comment on this. We’re going to try whatever strategy gets the most upvotes.
I prefer podcasts that are automatically sucked into the app I use: Castbox. I have very little time to read, but listen when I exercise or drive.
With all due respect, turning your text into video is not a very technoskeptical move. Anything that competes unnecessarily against deep, sustained, focused reading is the technological enemy of thoughtfulness.
