The Technoskeptic Magazine is back!
Greetings, Technoskeptic subscribers!
Where have we been, and what’s going on now?
The Technoskeptic Magazine has been on a long hiatus. We suffered a triple whammy of COVID, a “carding” cyber-attack that destroyed our ability to take subscriptions, and sheer exhaustion from the relentless battle to maintain the magazine on a WordPress site, despite the site routinely breaking for unfathomable reasons.
After examining Substack, we decided to relaunch the Technoskeptic Magazine and podcast here.
We will be delivering new articles and podcasts and updating some of our greatest hits, including putting the feature-length articles that appeared in our hard-copy magazine online for the first time.
There are also tons of developments in the high-tech space that range from mildly disturbing to quite alarming. If you’d like to take on one of those topics with a viewpoint and reporting that sheds new light, please pitch us. If you have comments or want to contribute an article to The Technoskeptic, email your comments or story pitch to technoskeptic@substack.com
We’re excited to get back to covering what we did so well. As we relaunch, we see that our message is timelier than ever. When The Technoskeptic started addressing the grave flaws in technology in 2015, we were a voice in the wilderness. In the intervening years, society has transformed. Many Americans, regardless of their political persuasion, have a much healthier skepticism of what our techno-overlords are up to. Big Tech has deployed thousands of lobbyists and spent tens of millions of dollars at both state and national levels to block privacy legislation and hold tech giants harmless, regardless of the toxicity of their algorithms. Despite all that time and money, the truth is seeping out, and Americans are increasingly sick of being commodified and dehumanized. In this new climate, we know The Technoskeptic’s coverage will be more relevant than ever.
Welcome to the rebirth of The Technoskeptic.
